Bird Dump - Patterson Park
Just dropping a few bird pictures from a trip I took to Patterson Park back in May.
A starling soaks in the sun and ponders life’s greatest questions.
A first for me! It’s the Eastern Wood-Pewee! He didn’t appreciate my impression of Mr. Herman.
I was surprised to see so many cedar waxwings - another first! These birds have eluded many in the birding subreddit, but there were probably 50 or so of them in the first tree I scouted out. They’re absolutely beautiful, but I can’t help thinking they don’t look like they’ve rendered yet.
Some adorable Canada goslings! Such a shame they grow up to be aggressive poo monster-
Awww, look at that sploot! What was I saying? I forget.
Eastern Kingbirds! A noble and stately bird deserving of its name, these guys were unfazed by the red-winged blackbird swooping around and knocking them about.
This green heron thought if it moved slowly enough, it’d evade my notice. Not so; I probably spent 10 minutes photographing this guy! I was transfixed by how colorful and varied his feathers were.
A Swainson’s thrush sighting rounded out the day. So many firsts from one of the last outings before the summer break.
