Bird Photo Dump - Dec. 2023/Jan. 2024
Back with another bird photo dump, featuring two state parks I had the pleasure of visiting.
Dec. 2023 - Fort McAllister State Park, Richmond Hill, GA
Our visit to this park turned into more of a hike than a birding outing, but it was still a great trip and I was able to capture a few birds along the way.
A couple of male house finches out for an afternoon snack, though I can’t imagine those spiky balls would go down easy.
This yellow-rumped warbler was spotted on our way out. He was very cute, and he sure knew it. And so round!
As we were leaving, we stopped by the roadside to watch this flock of snow geese (?) take off during golden hour, set against the beautiful Savannah salt marshes. What a way to end the trip!
Jan. 2023 - York River State Park, Williamsburg, VA
The cold Virginia weather abated for this weekend, so I figured it’d be a good time for a birding outing with my trusty camera. I was not disappointed!
This song sparrow was very bold, letting me take a few pictures just a few feet away.
I was glad to finally capture some pictures of some red-winged blackbirds, having come across them on my first official bird outing last summer.
I’d been wanting to see an Eastern bluebird up close ever since I found out we had them in Virginia. Such beautiful and vibrant colors, and there were a lot of them around!
I think I’ve mentioned it to everyone I know, but I’m so excited to see and hear the songbirds coming back now that spring is on its way! Hopefully that means more bird trips and more photo opportunities!
